Werdegang
Herr Prof. Wolf wurde am 29.03.1968 in Wiesbaden geboren. Er studierte Maschinenbau und Mechanik an der Technischen Universität in Darmstadt und ebenso an der UC Berkeley in Kalifornien im Rahmen eines DAAD-Stipendiums. Im Fachbereich Mechanik promovierte er mit dem Thema "Electromechanical Energy Conversion in Asymmetric Piezoelectric Bending Actuators".
Auch im Rahmen mehrerer Auslandsaufenthalte, z. B. am Technion in Israel und an der Stanford University, beschäftigte er sich mit der Modellierung und Anwendung von piezoelektrischen Keramiken und Antrieben in der Schwingungstechnik und der Zuverlässigkeit solcher Systeme.
In einem Spin-off Unternehmen der Siemens AG leitete Herr Prof. Wolf die Forschungsaktivitäten zur Markteinführung von massentauglichen piezoelektrischen Kleinantrieben und betrieb deren Patentierung.
Im Fachgebiet "Systemzuverlässigkeit im Maschinenbau" der Technischen Universität Darmstadt war Herr Prof. Wolf verantwortlich für den Aufbau und die Leitung der Arbeitsgruppe "Systemzuverlässigkeit" sowie für die Drittmittelakquise und Projektleitung. Zuletzt führte er, stellvertretend für den Lehrstuhlinhaber, das Fachgebiet "Systemzuverlässigkeit und Maschinenakustik" der TU Darmstadt, das in enger Kooperation mit dem Fraunhofer Institut für Betriebsfestigkeit und Systemzuverlässigkeit steht.
Am 15. August 2009 wurde Herr Prof. Wolf zum Universitätsprofessor für das Fach "Mechatronik" an der Bergischen Universität Wuppertal berufen. Hier hält er Vorlesungen in den Bereichen Mechatronik und Sicherheit. Er leitet das 2009 ins Leben gerufene Institut für Sicherungssysteme. Zu seinen gegenwärtigen Forschungsschwerpunkten gehören Grundlagen der quantitativen Sicherheitsanalyse (Security) und die Anwendung innovativer Technologien für moderne Systeme zur Zugangskontrolle.
