Main fields of Research

Thomas Termin is working on research projects at the Institute for Security Systems in cooperation with WITTE Automotive, a regional automotive supplier. He focuses on risk analyses of mobile access systems in the field of security.

In particular, main emphasis is laid on developing models, methods and metrics in order to analyse the generic vulnerability of important infrastructures; considerung especially uncertainties in the decision-making-process.

Thomas Termin is involved in developing a European "network of trust" by participating in a working group called "truzzt". As a pro-bono service, he supports installing the "ConnectIng-App" at the VDI.

 

Scientific career

Thomas Termin was born in Wuppertal in 1994. After graduating from highschool, he studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wuppertal and graduated in 2019 as M. Sc. During his studies, he worked already as a graduate assistant at the Institute for Security Systems. He even wrote his master thesis at the ISS focusing on „Quantitative risk analysis of automotive mobile access systems“. After graduation, Thomas Termin started working as a research associate and doctoral candidate at the Institute for Security Systems and WITTE Automotive in Velbert.

At the institute, he is supporting lectures in mechatronics and safety/security technologies as well as risk analysis in safety and security.

At WITTE he is involved in studies to anaylse and evaluate the security of mobile access systems and works in the project management office.
